Vince McGowan
I grew up riding dirt bikes in the strip mines of the valley below my family homestead in Western Pennsylvania’s Appalachian Mountains. After a long hiatus from riding, I abandoned those coal mines for the beautiful Pacific Northwest highways and byways. My day job is protecting and restoring the environment. My passion is protecting and restoring my soul by carving miles off in that same stunning PNW environment.

I left the boring strip malls of Southern California as a teenager and found myself in love with the rivers and forests of Oregon. Growing up, there were so many barriers to riding a motorcycle that I never thought I would realize my dream. Too short, too broke, and too timid for the thrill. But I could not escape the call to ride and explore this vast country. I’m a former sushi chef, and now I protect the salmon that I used to serve.

The American Highway: Two Voices
30 Days, 30 States, and 9,000 Miles
This is our story, how we found inspiration out there on America's highways that had to be shared. Ordinary men who've had extraordinary adventures together. We each bring our own perspectives to the ride. So, while the journey is shared, our experiences are unique. You'll find both of us on these pages, and you may just find something of yourself, this vast country, the wonderful people, and amazing places. We hope you also find the inspiration to follow your dreams down a twisty road, one with good pavement, a few bumps here and there, and the confidence that if you just lean in, roll on, and commit to the journey, everything will be all right.
